Béton Ciré updates the authentic Breton miki hat. For their first collection, Amélie Le Roux contributes to breathing a new trend from the Atlantic Coast.
Made in France, by hats makers, each model displays a fine and singular outfit.
Who are you?
Some waves on the tarmac… BETON CIRE goes from the coast to the town. To begin, the brand has chosen to adapt the authentic "Brittany Miki". Halfway between a bonnet and a cap, unisex and timeless, the original sailor's hat is made by hatmakers in France. BETON CIRE has created a denim version for a look definitely urban. All the models have specific details such as an adjustable leather back strap and same-tone embroidery on the hat cuff. The hat exists in several colors, making it iconic in its range.
How did you start in fashion?
Amélie Le Roux and Mario Faundez, the two creators of the brand, met in Paris at the Chardon Savard Workshop in 1999.
Twelve years later, Amélie had the idea of working together on a common project, when she found her Brittany grandfather’s hat at the bottom of her wardrobe, and showed it to Mario. It was an authentic Brittany Miki, the original sailor’s hat. Without a peak so that it will stay on your head in gusts of wind, while your ears are free to hear the sound on the waves. It becomes clear to them both that they must create the brand and decide to baptize the hat The Beton Ciré. Beton (concrete) refers to the city and street, Ciré (wax) refers to the yellow sou’wester and reminds you of the open sea. The brand was officially created in September 2013
